    OPPORTUNITY – Building the Bridge
65% of the families in our culture today are non-nuclear families. Non-nuclear families consist of single parents, step parents, grand parents raising their grandchildren, as well as foster and adoptive parents with children living in their home with whom they are not related by blood.
Although these families are whole and may be happy, they probably are experiencing some measure of brokenness, due to these at-risk children experiencing the death, divorce, separation or abandonment of one or both of their birth parents. This is why these families desperately need Hope and Healing that only Jesus offers..

The problem lies in the existence of a huge chasm (a Grand Canyon) which separates these families from this Hope and Healing. Every problem should be viewed as an opportunity to provide a solution. The great opportunity that lies before us - To Build a Bridge across the Grand Canyon!

Our purpose in Building the Bridge is powerful: to connect single parents, step parents, grand parents, foster parents and adoptive parents and their children (standing on the south rim of the canyon) with the Hope and Healing (waiting for them on the north rim)..

IDEA – Empowering “James 1:27” Churches
“Pure and Undefiled Religion in the sight of our God and Father is to…Visit Widows and Orphans in their distress.”
    James 1:27.

    • We believe that doing something that is Pure and Undefiled is not only good, but that it is the highest command and calling you can receive from the Lord.

    • We believe that Religion is the outward appearance of what is going on inside your heart – True Worship.

    • We believe that doing anything in the sight of our God and Father means that God is not only watching you, He is also pleased.

    • We believe that to Visit someone means that you must walk alongside that person.

    • We believe that the modern-day widows and orphans are single parents and their kids.

    • We believe that their distress is the brokenness in their lives that they have not yet found Hope and Healing for.

The Bridge across the Grand Canyon must be built by empowering “James 1:27” churches!

The Center for Single-Parent Family Ministry (SPFM) will exist to empower 5000 churches over the next 10 years to embrace the call of James 1:27. These churches will “be the bridge” connecting single-parent families and other non-nuclear families with Hope and Healing.

    CAPACITY – Web-Based Membership
The Center for SPFM will inform, equip and connect leaders involved in ministry to non-nuclear families through our Web-Based Membership.

This Membership Component will be the vehicle by which churches are empowered to become “James 1:27” Churches.

Benefits of Membership will include: Product Discounts, Seminar, Workshop and Conference Discounts, Ministry Partner Discounts, Archives (articles, tips, tools and ideas), Networking Opportunities, Coaching, Mentoring and Technical Support, Resource Spotlights, Monthly SPFM Newsletters, Research and Ministry Trends.

Membership will enable the Center’s connection with these churches to be on-going and intentional. Membership will be the gateway in providing other tools of empowerment:
our National Training Conference (started in 1999), Regional Training Events, Published Resources, Seminars for Parents and Kids and Coaching by Certified Ministry Partners.

Revenue generated from all of our capacity tools will supply the operating capital necessary to run the Center for SPFM. As this revenue increases, this will allow us to replace the start up capital supplied by major donors and foundations.

    Summary Statement
Web-Based Membership will provide the capacity for the Center for SPFM to Empower “James 1:27” Churches to Build a Bridge across the Grand Canyon separating Non-Nuclear Families from Hope and Healing found only in Jesus Christ.
